What are some things that you do everyday that you don’t even have to think about?

Things that we do in our everyday lives, like eating, driving, brushing our teeth, these are things that we do that seem so ordinary to us, but God cares about the ordinary in our lives. God cares about the things that you care about and God cares about the things that you do. As crazy as it seems, we can even do the everyday, ordinary things in a way that worships God.

ROMANS 12:1-2So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.

What makes our “everyday, ordinary life” so important to God?

God cares about these things because WE care about these things. God wants to be involved in every aspect of your life. It isn’t about you to do everyday things differently, it is about your thinking about everyday things differently.

How can you do everyday, ordinary things in a way that worships God?

There are a variety of ways that we can do normal things in a way that worships God, but ultimately it takes a change in the way that you think. If we are constantly aware that God wants to use us, even in the everyday, ordinary things, God is going to show us people God wants us to reach out to. God is going to show us ways that we can share who Christ is with others. It isn’t about you standing out and doing a bunch of things that makes you an outsider, it is about doing ordinary things with God’s eyes.
