Have you ever tried to tell someone a story but they didn’t believe you? What happened?
One of the most frustrating things is trying to tell someone a story of something crazy that happened to you, only to see the eyes of disbelief staring back at you. The deeper into the story you get, the more you say, “No seriously!” “I’m not lying!”. You become desperate for them to believe you and for them to have a personal understanding of what happened to you. Jesus wants you to have a personal understanding of who He is, not just because someone told you about Him, but because deep in your heart you truly believe it.
He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Simon Peter replied, “You are the Christ, Son of the living God.”
Why is it important that each of us have personal knowledge of who Jesus is?
Jesus cares about you. He cares about you in the middle of your storm, in the middle of your struggle, and He wants to walk with you through it, but you can only let Jesus into your life by having personal knowledge of who He is. It isn’t about reciting scripture or learning Bible stories. It isn’t about attending Collectives or attending groups. It isn’t about Camp and it isn’t about Motion. It is about what you believe in your heart. Believing in who Jesus is in your heart is the only way to unlock a fully alive life.
Who is Jesus?
Jesus is recorded throughout history and is even recorded in Roman crucifixion records, so we know that Jesus was a real person. The question is do they understand that Jesus is much more than just a good person who lived here and did good things. Jesus is our motivation. Jesus is truth. Jesus gives life.
